Junction murals
Water-based acrylic and spraypaint
Dimensions: sizes range from 3 x 3m, 5 x 4m
After the success of the large scale mural Ode to Bridget, I painted at Junction Festival 2017, I was invited back the next year. I suggested this time that I would pick out three single story spaces that I would paint over the duration of the festival. Each piece was site specific and took inspiration from its immediate surroundings (architecture and geography). The first one below incorporates a cropped image of St. Mary with her hands raised. The image comes from one of the stained glass windows in the church (St. Peter and Paul’s) behind, which holds one of the largest collections of my family’s stained glass windows. The others celebrated creativity (South Tipperary Arts Centre opposite the second) and nature (River Suir beside the third).
