Clochafarmore
Clochafarmore (2019)
Water-based acrylic and spraypaint
Dimensions: 10m x 8m
This mural was painted as part of Seek Mural Festival, 2019, which took place in Dundalk, Ireland. The piece takes its inspiration from Oliver Sheppard’s sculpture Death of Cúchulainn, 1914 depicting the dying Irish mythic warrior hero, tied to the standing stone Clochafarmore. The colour palette echos the nationalist sentiments of Sheppard’s sculpture and draws visual parallels with the irish Tricolour. The artwork was painted onto the gable end of a well known pub in Dundalk called Brady’s, sadly, both are now gone.
