Amor Fati
Amor Fati, 2020
Digitally printed tarp
Dimensions: 27 x 8.5m
The piece Amor Fati was commissioned for IPUT's Tropical Fruit Warehouse development. “Amor Fati” is a Latin phrase that may be translated as "love of one's fate". This mantra underpins the artwork and encourages Dubliners to embrace a loving, stoic view of their life.
The piece is site specific, taking inspiration from the architecture of development as well as the The Liffey, a central landmark that metaforically and geographically unifies all Dubliners. The 5 abstracted stained glass windows depict 2 abstracted human forms coming in from the left and the right, ultimately embracing in the central pane. The sentiment to the piece is very much a positive one, encouraging support, unity and awareness of one another during these uncertain and difficult times.
